| Abstract: |
This study explored how Facebook and YouTube users reacted to the arrest of Abba Kyari, Deputy Commissioner of Police for drug-related issues. The
objectives of the study were to; examine the thematic issues Facebook and YouTube users raised on the arrest of Abba Kyari & analyse the frames of comments raised on the arrest of Abba Kyari Facebook and YouTube users. Textual analysis served as a research design and textual analysis guide was the research instrument. Twenty texts (10 each) were randomly selected from Facebook and YouTube and analysed. The researchers found that netizens raised the thematic issues of super criminal cops, corruption, and extradition advocacy. The analysis also revealed that the major frame of comments by Facebook and YouTube users was extradition advocacy. The study infers that netizens used Facebook and YouTube to advocate for the repatriation of Abba Kyari to the United States of America where he is wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The study recommended that social media users should avoid using vulgar or insulting words against individuals while expressing their views on
