Abstract: This study was on the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project-European Investment Bank (NEWMAP-EIB'S) Communication Approaches in the Control and Management of Erosion in Calabar Municipality. This study looks at the communication approaches adopted by NEWMAP-EIB in carrying out these remediation works in the communities. The study was hinged on Participatory Communication theory. It equally adopted the qualitative research design, which used interview as method of data collection. The findings indicated that though NEWMAP-EIB adopted community mobilisation, advocacy and one-on-one discussions as co mmunication approaches, it was more of promises of what they would do for the communities, some of which they kept and others, they could not keep. Based on the information provided, the study concluded that truly, there were sensitisations by NEWMAP-EIB in the communities before it embarked on its gully erosion remediation works, these sensitisations were more of promises from NEWMAPEIB, some of which were not fulfilled. The study therefore recommends that while communication approaches are important, NEWMAP-EIB should pay more attention to the content of these approaches. Communication between NEWMAP-EIB and members of the host communities should, to a large extent, encourage members of the communities to be responsible in protecting their environment from erosion because NEWMAP-EIB will not be there all the time.
