Author(s): Ifeanyi Nwokeocha & C. C. Igboeli
Abstract: Over the years, Naira Marley has done music that has great influence on Nigerian youths. And it is very unfortunate that this influence is mostly negative. However, this paper was designed to examine the anti-social graphism in Naira Marley’s music and its implications for moral depravation among Nigerian youths. The study adopted the library research technique. The work revealed among other things that Naira Marley is a negative influence on the youths of Nigeria. This is so because his songs promote immorality, obscenity, nudity, etc. In the light of these, the study recommended amongst other things that government and relevant agencies should draft out measures to checkmate the Nigerian music industry. The work also recommended that the law of obscene and indecent publications should be strengthened and religiously implemented to avoid or nip in the bud content that tend to deprave and corrupt the mass audience, especially young and impressionable people.
